HoundsGate Press is a small team, and we keep things simple. We only ask for what we need to answer your questions and read your work. We will never sell your information, and we don’t track you around the internet.
What we collect
If you use our contact form: your name, email address, and message. The form doesn’t save anything on our website. It simply sends your message to our inbox.
If you send us a submission: whatever you include in your email. That’s usually your name (and pen name), email address, a short bio, your manuscript, and anything a particular call asks for, such as proof of eligibility.
When you visit the site: our web host keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and running.
How we use it
We use your information to reply to you, to read and respond to your submission, and to confirm you meet a call’s requirements. If your work is accepted, we’ll also use it for your contributor agreement, for edits, and to credit you in the published book, including your name and bio. That’s it.
Who else sees it
Nobody gets your information to sell or advertise. The only others involved are:
- Partners on a specific call: if a call has special eligibility requirements, we may confirm them with the relevant partner, sharing only what’s needed to do so.
- The services that run things for us: Kinsta and Cloudflare (website hosting and security), Gmail (where your emails arrive), and, for accepted work, the platforms we publish and sell our books through.
- Anyone the law requires us to share it with, if that ever happens.
Cookies
We don’t use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. Our host sets one small security cookie to help block bots. It disappears after about 30 minutes.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: only as long as we need to answer and follow up.
- Submissions we don’t accept: deleted within about six months of our decision.
- Accepted work and agreements: kept for as long as the book is available.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to show you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it. The one exception is anything we need to keep for a signed agreement. Just email us, and we’ll take care of it within 30 days. If you live somewhere with data-protection laws (such as the UK or EU), you can also contact your local privacy authority.
A few last things
- Submissions are open to writers 18 and older, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.
- We’re based in the United States, so your information may be stored there.
- Our site may link to other websites. Their privacy policies are their own.
- If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
